Necklaces In The Past

Archaeologists say that the necklace was first worn by man in the Stone Age. In the year 2004, some scientists were digging a South Africa caves and were able to discover 41 mollusks that were believed to have been strung together to be some kind of neck jewelry some 75,000 years ago.

Gold began to be used for neck jewelry in 2500 B.C. Gold neck adornments as well as gold chokers were unearthed at a location called Royal Grave of Ur, which is a place located in what is known as Iraq. In 2000 B.C., bead neck jewelry that were made and used by Sumerians started to make use of alternating patterns of colored gemstones and stones as well as metals like copper and silver.

Meanwhile, neck jewelry, which were worn by ancient Egyptians, evolved from the simple stringed beads to the more complicated patterns, including the pectoral and the 'broad collar' type. These necklaces were worn by both women and men, and mostly by royalty and wealthy citizens. When the owners die, they even request for these necklaces to be buried with them.

In around 480 to 300 B.C., which was the period of the Classical Greek, a lot of necklaces were in the form of three-dimensional pendants. These necklaces were usually in the form of seeds, heads or acorns and were hanging from a row of different or similar flat elements that were commonly like rosettes.

When the second and third centuries came, the act of wearing multiple necklaces at the same time became a trend. Sometimes, the types of necklaces worn indicated the class or level of wealth or class of the person wearing it. Necklaces became popular in all kinds of styles, designs and forms they came in. Over the next couple of centuries, necklaces became unpopular but regained their fame during the late 14th century.

Today, there are many trend, Pearl is one begin in the latest part of century and forever being demand in royal family as a sign of label, continue become popular in the jewelry trend, recently freshwater cultured pearls being fashionable and affordable price for every women.

Pearls All Girls Will Love It

Pearls have long been cherished for their exquisite beauty, unique qualities, and timeless elegance. Throughout history, women have loved to wear pearls because of the way that their lustre casts a soft radiant glow onto the skin of the wearer. Is it any wonder then that pearl bridal jewelry has become the adornment chosen by so many of today's brides? Nothing enhances the special glow of a happy bride better than the look of fabulous pearls draped on her neck, wrist, and ears.

The wonderful thing about pearls in the modern era is that there are so many different styles, shapes, sizes, and colors available.

You may wonder how to find just the right special pieces among all of the options. Keep in mind the personality of the bride, the style and formality of the wedding, and the look and details of her gown. The elegance of pearl bridal jewelry is the perfect accent to the gorgeous satins, silks, and laces of wedding gowns.

Jewelry should compliment the neckline of the wedding dress, so a v-neck would look great with a long pendant, a strand would be just right with a scoopneck gown, and a high neck might call for just a striking pair of earrings and a bracelet. The classic strand of akoyas or a simple pendant are wonderful for the traditional bride.

A woman wearing a gown with sparkle might prefer her pearl bridal jewelry [out]to be accented with Swarovski crystals. There are also great handcrafted and custom pieces available, in every design imaginable.

Brides looking for more casual jewelry will love the look of affordable freshwater pearls mixed with sterling silver. And for true drama, try one of a kind pearl bridal jewelry made with black pearls or created in multi strand designs. The wide array of colors also makes pearls ideal for bridesmaids and more adventurous brides.

The beauty of pearls shows very well in photographs, which is especially important for wedding pictures, since you will have them forever. (A special note to all of you brides wearing strapless gowns: a bold necklace and earrings are a must so you do not look naked in your close up shots!)

One of the most wonderful things about pearls is their timelessness. The pearl jewelry that you wear on your wedding day will always be in fashion, and when you wear it over the years, it will remind you of that romantic day.Check this out if you are want to lean more about the history of pearls. Houston Jewelry

Many people choose to accessorize their outfits with different items. Houston jewelry is one of the most frequently used items to make your clothes take on a different look. What you wear with your clothes will affect whether they look more casual or dressier for fancier occasions. The choices that you make in these items will affect the way that you look.

Both men and women enjoy wearing Houston jewelry to accessorize. Men do not often look at it as much as women do. However, they also wear these items. They may not see it as accessorizing but they will wear it just the same. Unlike women, though, they often wear the same pieces over and over again rather than having separate pieces for different purposes. The most common items that many men wear include necklaces and rings.

Women, on the other hand, will likely possess many different pieces of Houston jewelry in order to have a wide range of choices. They will own different colors of metals as well as different gemstones to match each of the different outfits that they may wear. They will own jewelry that is more casual and some that is fancier for those special occasions. Women also wear a wider range of items including bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more. They have more to choose from but they also use these items differently than men do.

Each person has their own individual tastes. These tastes will effect which pieces of Houston jewelry that they choose to own and which ones they choose to wear for certain situations. These items can tell a lot about a person's personality and what they are trying to portray about themselves. In fact, which items a person chooses to wear with an outfit can even cause one particular outfit to look either casual or fancy. Who knew that jewelry was so powerful?

Many people choose to wear Houston jewelry to create a new look for themselves. They will choose their items based on what they are wearing and what they will be doing that day. Certain pieces are best for a fancy dinner party while others are more suited for a quiet day in the office.

These pieces can truly change the way others perceive you.

Buy Cultured Pearl Jewelry

There are a couple more jewelry and accessories, which could be considered as more elegant, compared to pearl jewelry.

However, a lot of people still think that pearl jewelry could be a bit expensive for their taste. Actually, what some people do not know that pieces like a pearl necklace, pearl earrings and pearl jewelry sets could be affordable as long as you would be shopping wisely. So here are some guidelines to help you out choose your pearl trinkets.

The first would be the matter of choosing natural or cultured pearls. Natural pearls are those pearls that are crated by an oyster naturally. They usually are able to create them from an irritant or a parasite. Only around one in every hundred oysters are able to create a pearl naturally and only around one in ten of those would turn out to be quality pearls.

On the other hand, cultured pearls are made similarly however the introduction of a parasite or irritant is done in a controlled environment. And so, cultured pearls or freshwater pearls turn out to better in quality compared to most natural pearls.

Similar to diamonds, pearls are graded based on the various qualities that they have.

Status in Texas Jewelry

Many people view their jewelry as somewhat of a status symbol. They feel that their jewelry will speak to others about who they are and possibly even how much money that they have left to throw around. In reality, this perception that others get from the jewelry that you wear is not entirely accurate. However, many in Texas like to take advantage of this perception of the gold jewelry that they wear.

Gold in Texas has long been perceived as being worth a lot of money. Thus those who wear a lot of jewelry will give off the perception that they have a lot of money. Some people like to make others think that they are rich and have money. Others do not like to give off a false impression but are not willing to give up the gold jewelry that they wear. Regardless of whether or not they intend to give the impression that they have money, there are those who will think it.

Having a preference for gold in Texas does not mean that you can afford to buy the jewelry that you desire. Many who prefer this type of jewelry cannot afford to purchase it and may be forced to seek out an alternative. For many of these people, silver jewelry may be the only alternative that they can afford but it does not offer the same look. Finding gold plated sterling silver jewelry to wear instead of spending all of the extra money on the pure jewelry instead. Sterling silver jewelry is much cheaper and this alternative offers the same look people desire.

The desire for the look of gold in Texas can be very powerful. With the state of the economy, many people can no longer afford the more expensive jewelry. They will need to find alternatives to achieve the same look they desire while spending less money.

History of Bracelets

The earliest known bracelets hark back to 2500 BC, worn by the ancient Sumerians of Southern Mesopotamia. Bracelets, along with other jewelry like anklets, earrings, necklaces, and rings, were worn by the women to show off the wealth of their husbands. As such, they were a symbol of status – much like some jewelry is to this day. They often had religious connotations in addition to the perception of wealth and adornment. Bracelets were enjoyed for many centuries after this time but emerged as highly coveted pieces of jewelry in Ancient Egypt in 2000 BC.

However, bracelets became increasingly popular with men during Grecian times – soldiers wore defensive bands of leather often decorated with gold, silver, and other gemstones on their forearms. They were called Bracels, from the Latin term for arm, “Brachium”. The Grecian women realized that these accessories would look good on them, so they began wearing smaller versions – called Bracel-ets. The idea took favor and the fashion spread far and wide.

The history of bracelets spans ages, reaching up to the present time. They have been crafted from different materials, and have always been popular – bracelets have varied according to dress styles and, of course, dictated by fashion. Bracelets are worn by men and women alike today, and bracelets today are not only of traditional materials, but also of acrylics and modern plastics. They make for trendy, unique items of jewelry. Some bracelets are also crafted from metals like titanium and zirconium, which have become popular because of their lightness and hypoallergenic properties. By Eric Hartwell

Pear Diamond Engagement Ring

In choosing the perfect engagement ring for your beau, aside from the price and the size of stone, an important consideration is the shape of the gem as well. The pear shape diamond engagement ring may not be a conventional choice but any engagement rings that profess love are truly fit for the woman you love.

The pear diamond engagement ring is also known as the teardrop shape. It is actually a cross between the oval and marquise shape of stone. You may have seen this type of engagement ring as popular cuts for earrings and pendants but lately this type of shape is making its way on engagement rings as well.

Unknown to many, the pear shape diamond engagement ring or teardrop diamond is cut and perfected by a Flemish in the name of Lodweyk Van Berquem as early as the 1400's. Although this diamond engagement ring did not gain much popularity because gemologist and jewelers feel the design was a waste of diamond.

Since this diamond is cut in a way that one end is round and elongated and the other tip is pointed, so most part of the gem is cut away.

Fortunately with the advancement in technology, different machines and methods for cutting the diamond is invented so not much of the diamond is wasted. The pear diamond engagement ring would be perfect as a solitaire but you can have it styled set and designed with other stones or precious gems to accentuate the diamond itself.

The most controversial pear diamond ring would probably be the one actor Richard Burton gave to his lady love Elizabeth Taylor. It was a 69.42 carat pear diamond. Eventually it was sold in 1979 for three million dollars $3M that helped build a hospital in Botswana.

Choosing Jewelry For A Gift

Precious stones, e.g. green emeralds, white diamonds, and red rubies, along with the stunning blue, color-change, golden, orange, pink, purple, white, and yellow sapphires can be worn on the body or used in decorations. Such jewelry is often more prized than gold, cash, or other earthly possessions.

Jewelry is an ornamental kind of adornment, usually worn on the body but is becoming increasingly used in innovative and unique ways. It can sometimes be engraved, customized, and personalized.

Jewelry has been constructed from numerous different materials, like costume jewelry as an example. However, it's most often created with precious metals and set with gemstones. Most fine jewelry is made through a process called jewelry cast.

Giving the gift of jewelry can be rewarding for the giver and receiver for years to come. It's not chocolate or candy that melts with the first bite or a stuffed animal that gets thrown away. It demonstrates thought - in that you picked it out especially for the person that you are to give it to. The beauty of the jewelry demonstrates the beauty of the relationship.

Choose style over price – make the item suitable for the person who is to receive the gift. Learn as much about your partner's style as possible before entering in on a purchase of any kind.

For example, Pearls might be more suitable for a more mature person. Birthstones are customized to match a significant aspect of the person already known to you. Choose gems that are likely to please and you will forever be remembered as someone with good taste. Cheap jewelry isn't necessarily bad jewelry – although you get what you pay for. Good jewelry is jewelry that pleases the receiver as well as the giver.

The Best Bridal Jewelry

For centuries, jewelry has been used to signify many different things. It has been used by a royalty to signify their status, by women to display their beauty, and by men to exhibit their power.

Even many centuries ago, when jewelry was still very crude, but still beautiful, it was used in bridal rituals. Hence, even though the jewelry is becoming more sophisticated with every decade that passes, it still plays the same very important role in our society.

If there's one thing that the bride wants to do on her wedding day, it would be to look beautiful. Many thousands of dollars are spent on bridal clothing, such as the wedding gown, as well as accessories. Jewelry is the perfect accessory to add beauty to the wedding gown and add sparkle to the bride herself.

Here are a few ideas on how to get the right bridal jewelry to make your wedding day even more perfect.

To pick the best bridal jewelry, you have to match the jewelry with the wedding gown as well as the personality of the bride.

That means, the more elaborate the wedding gown and the more outgoing the bride herself is the flashier and more elaborate the bridal jewelry should be.

If the bride is shy and introverted, the bridal jewelry should reflect that shade of her personality.

This selection of bridal jewelry is probably the most important, because you do not want the jewelry to overshadow everything else, and you also do not want it to be overshadowed by the wedding gown.

Remember, your bridal jewelry is an accessory. It should not be the centerpiece of the wedding. Some people purchase their bridal jewelry with the purpose of using it only on that one day. If that is the case and you can afford it, then obviously you can pick out something that is wedding specific.

Not many people can do that. So the best approach is to purchase bridal jewelry that you can wear for the rest of your life. This means when you purchase your bridal jewelry you should also keep the practicality of the item in mind.

To summarize, pick your bridal jewelry to match your personality and your wedding dress style. And also keep in mind the subsequent uses of that jewelry.

Hair Color Indication

Your hair color is your number one accessory. It is one of the first things people notice. Make use of it. Have some fun.

Blonde:
Blonde hair says I am cool. I am glamorous. I am sexy. Forget the blonde jokes, as Dolly Parton says, I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde. Dolly Parton

Brunette:
If you are a brunette you are considered the stable one of the bunch. The girl next door is always a brunette. You are flirty and fun. You are the "kool-aid" mom. Ms Reliable to her boss and yes you probably are the boss.

Black:
Bohemian is the word for the woman with raven black hair. She is dark and mysterious. She has many secrets. She can also cook up a pot of the best spaghetti sauce you've ever tasted and her lap is always available when a little one needs a hug.

Red:
The feisty red-head says fire and fun. Is her temper really as volatile as her hair color? She makes the men look twice and leaves them with a wink. Some famous red heads include Queen Elizabeth the 1st, Clara Bow, Bette Davis and Kirsten Dunst.

Gray:
The woman with gray hair is considered stable. You can trust her. Gray can be beautiful. Gray is cool and welcoming. Gray says I have lived and I am proud of it.

There you have it, hair colors and how the person with the color is perceived. Choose who you want to be and then choose your hair color. Hey like that scarf, if you get tired of it you can always change it. Remember Just Love Yourself and Dream.

Pearl Jewelry Shopping Tips

Usually, the less sharp and intense they are, the lower the luster. Examine luster of the strands on a flat white surface, e.g. a white paper and at the reflections on the pearls under a light.

Sometimes, however, a lack of sharpness is due to surface blemishes, rather than the overall luster. Look for the brightest and darkest areas of the pearls. Then compare the contrast between the two. The lower the contrast and the milkier the pearl is, the lower the luster. This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to spot low and very low luster.

Milky-looking pearls. are sometimes sold in "high quality" stores. Be aware that their luster is low. The luster quality of a strand is determined by its overall appearance, not just by one pearl.

If you find a strand you like that happens to have a pearl or two with an obviously lower luster than the rest of the strand, that is not a well-matching. Roll the pearls slightly so you can see their entire surface.

The luster not only varies from pearl to pearl. It varies on each pearl. Try the pearls on and check, you can see the highlighted spots on them from a distance (say 10 feet/3 meters), if the pearls are of good quality. If possible, lay the pearls alongside other strands and compare the luster.

This is most effective when you already know the relative quality of the comparison strands. Keep in mind that your impression of a strand will be affected by the pearls it is compared to. A strand will look better when viewed next to lower-luster strands than next to those of higher luster.

Sometimes buyers get so involved in examining the shape and blemishes of pearls that they overlook their luster. However, the most important value point in pearls of equal size is luster because that is what gives a pearl its beauty.

Texas Jewelry

A large majority of adults living in Texas as in anywhere else in the country wear jewelry regularly. Many even wear at least one piece of jewelry every single day. This makes it one of the biggest businesses that exist. There is a high demand for these items and it can sometimes be tricky to find high quality without breaking the bank. Whether you are male or female, jewelry is likely something that you will purchase at some point in your life.

Most Texas residents, especially those that are married, will need wedding rings to wear. Some will spend thousands of dollars on their wedding rings and will wear them with pride. However, for some Texas jobs, wearing expensive jewelry may not be an option. In these cases, one might wish to purchase a less expensive alternative rather than going without. For these people, not wearing a ring may be more uncomfortable so they will want to wear something that does not damage easily and is cheaper to replace should something happen.

Other types of jewelry are also very popular for day to day use. Both men and women can be found wearing earrings in today's society. Earrings are generally difficult to damage due to their location on the body. They do not need to be expensive earrings to look good, though. Spending less on jewelry that looks the same as the more expensive items is never a bad thing.

When you find yourself needing to purchase your next piece of Texas jewelry, visit a Texas Jewelry to find high quality silver jewelry at low prices. You will find any type of jewelry that you are looking for in a wide variety of styles.

Pearl Necklace

Pearl necklaces have been around for centuries. Today you'll find women of all tastes wearing these magical creations that have been tweaked by jewelers and tailored for current trends. From weddings, dinner parties to simply shopping with some friends, a pearl necklace is the perfect accessory for any woman.

Akoya Pearl Necklaces - Commonly known for their intense luster and roundness makes these pearl necklaces a top pick for weddings. As we all know, a wedding is a one time unforgettable event that needs to be just perfect. The clean surface and glowing reflection the Akoya pearl gives off commands attention and perfectly compliments the bride and dress.

Freshwater Pearl Necklaces - For anyone that is looking for a stylish necklace to put with a pair of jeans, there are hundreds of pearl necklace combinations just for this. From Swarovski, Burmese jade, and freshwater pearls, to carnelian and onyx, you'll find these the perfect combination for time out with friends or at your average dinner party.

Tahitian Pearl Necklaces - Tahitian pearls are without a doubt one of the most exquisite collection of pearl jewelry. Unfortunately not everyone can afford to own one of these necklaces as prices can easily reach $20,000. Their high luster, large sizes and deep nacre make these kinds of pearls extremely attractive.

Whenever you are considering the purchase of a pearl necklace you should always make sure the jeweler selling is fully certified. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions and use your common sense to decide if the jeweler is making sense or not.

The best thing to do is ask under what institution the jeweler is certified. The Gemological Institute of America is a notorious and reputable educator in the pearl field. All graduates from this institution will possess a certificate and are permitted to grade your pearls.

Jewelry - The Perfect Gift

It can be very hard to find the right gift for your loved ones. After pouring through the considerable choices that you have, it is pretty scary to finally choose one and then find out later that the person you gave the gift to does not even use that brand of perfume, or that the color of the scarf does not go with his or her coloring.

It is good to note, however, that jewelry always serves a proper gift even if you don’t have a thorough knowledge of the receiver. Jewelry, of whatever kind, will always be a sure winner when you need to give a gift.

Ask some friends to give you some suggestions on what gift to give and you will always hear the word jewelry at the top of their list. People from all walks of life give jewelry as gifts. Your next door neighbor and your supervisor at work will both consider jewelry just the perfect gift. This brings to mind he question, why exactly does jewelry make the perfect gift?

Universal Appreciation for Jewelry; some other options, jewelry fits almost everyone. This means that you do not need to consider a lot of factors when getting jewelry as a gift. Jewelry will be the correct gift for anybody regardless of gender, age and affiliation. Unlike gifts of flowers and stuffed toys which are generally meant for girls, jewelry can be given to both men and women. You need not worry that jewelry is not right for your boss’s 12 year old daughter because some stores are offering jewelry for this age group too.

White Pearl Necklace

We all know women love jewelry and it is perhaps their inner passion to wear gorgeous piece of jewelry. Among many other choices, pearl necklace is the preferred choice of many women because of its natural lustrous appeal.

When it comes to pearl necklace, usually it’s a white color pearl necklace. White color pearl necklaces are classic, traditional and generally designed with round shape pearls. Pearls come in other natural colors too, like gray, black, golden, light green etc. However, pearls can be colored-dyed to suit fashion and style in lavender, pink, peach, gold, black and blue as well. But natural original color pearl necklaces are always preferred and command higher prices. A typical pearl necklace is hand-knotted with about 40 pearl beads.

Pearl necklaces are not restricted to round shape pearls only. Tear drop, pear, potato, coin and irregular baroque shape pearls are equally popular among women and commonly used by jewelers and designers alike.

Pearl necklaces are designed with various pearl types such as freshwater pearls, akoya seawater pearls, Tahitian and South seawater pearls and their prices vary according type and quality among other factors.

When it comes to pearl size, the most popular sizes are between 6mm to 8.5mm for most pearl necklaces. Small sizes pearl necklaces are very common among younger girls and larger sizes are preferred choice of many women.

Besides pearls shape and size, the length of any pearl necklace is very important and paramount. Enhance your beauty, show your style and wear it fashionable.

Black Pearl Jewelry

Black pearl jewelry is gaining more and more popularity in the world of fashionable and stylish accessories and jewelry.

Compared to the traditional and classic white pearls, women and even men are caught in the allure of the deep rich color of black pearls, along with their dramatic modern look. Black pearl jewelry looks good and goes well with almost any light-colored ensemble, just like the effect when white pearls are worn with dark-colored clothing.

Black pearls are made by black-lipped oysters that live in the Indian Oceans and the French Polynesian. They have an average size of around 8 to 17 millimeters and are the only pearls that come in a dark color naturally. Black pearls, which are also called Tahitian pearls, do not only come in a black color. They could also be dark blue, gray, brown and blue green with overtones of red, purple or green.

There are also differences between the freshwater and saltwater black pearl jewelry. The black pearls, which are from the sea, have a color that is deeper while black pearls, which are from freshwater, have a faded or light gray appearance. Also, saltwater pearls are usually rounder and more lustrous than freshwater pearls, making them more expensive.

Generally, larger and rounder pearls and pearls which have overtones are considered to be more valuable and stylish. Black pearls are still the most frequently and popularly searched color, which is followed by pink pearls, and then blue pearls and then white pearls. The uniqueness and natural mystique of black pearl jewelry make them great gifts whenever there is a special occasion and even when there are none.

A lot of designers create their own pieces of art with pearls to design pearl jewelry and oftentimes, they are successful in capturing the beauty and elegance of pieces, which has fine pearl appeal.

Fine pearl jewelry is one of the best gifts you could give to yourself or to our loved ones. Just remember that if you do buy or receive some pearl jewelry, you would have to give them extra special care.

Pearl - Birthstone of June

You may know what your birthstone is but do you know the significance that comes along with it? If you were born in the month of June then your birthstone is Pearl. The ancients thought that Pearl has truth and beauty properties.

It is now known that Greeks actually thought that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the Love Goddess shook from her eyes as she was born from the sea. Arab legend states that pearls were made when oysters were lured from the depths of the ocean by the moon and then swallowed moonlit dew drops.

Pearl is also generally known as the anniversary gem stone for the 3rd and 30th years of marriage. For centuries pearls have been found on crowns, jewelry, clothing, and temples. They were even known to be a favorite of Cleopatra. They are simple enough to be given to young girls and are a frequent gift for a first communion.

Magnificent pearls come in a variety of colors that range from delicate rose white to black. When it comes to pearls the higher the luster or orients the more expensive it is. It may be hard to envisage that these desirable treasures come naturally from the mollusk.

Deep sea divers seek out natural pearls in The Persian Gulf as well as the waters off Japan, the South Pacific Islands off northern Australia, and the coasts of Panama, Venezuela, and California. Other than the common round shaped pearls normally seen, there are also large hemispherical cultured pearls known as mabe.

These fresh water pearls are elongated in different interesting shapes and colors. The South Sea cultured pearls can grow upwards of 10mm.

There was a time when only those with royal status could sport something as precious as pearl jewelry, but these days they are seen on people from all over the world. Pearls are an ideal gift for anybody of any age.

Jewelry Auctions Online

Jewelry auctions are held all the time, you just have to look out for them. They are quite common on online. Jewelry purchased on the internet is becoming more popular because it is easy to find, enjoyable and provides a wider choice than most retail stores.

Some auction facts:

1. These sites specialize in just the jewelry market.
2. The real time search function allows buyers to easily find the exact gemstones and diamond items they need.
3. Did you know that jewelry at your local store is marked up as high as 600%.
4. More than 10,000 portions of jewelry is auctioned a day through the internet.
5. Normal jewelry stores today seem to be falling on hard times, and one contributing reason is the growth of online live jewelry auctions sites.

These, like all live auctions, can also be quite fun. Almost all will include photos of the jewelry item up for sale. Online sites are filled with plenty of quality jewelry items and friendly, knowledgeable sellers, so there is no reason to chase one of the bad apples.

But when you're just starting out, you might want to stick with sellers who reside in the same country you do. Online gem and jewelry auctions are a very popular way of selling over the Internet. The safety of ebay online is usually equipped with lots of safeties, making the trade safer both for customers and sellers.

Did you know that these are held all the time. They are an excellent way to buy quality jewelry at greatly reduced prices. So they are a solid and dependable source for all kinds of jewelry: diamond rings and necklaces, fine timepieces like Rolex, gold and silver one of a kind pieces.

Whatever the reasons, you can take advantage of these sites and finally get that perfect gift for the one you love. Of course, you can always search internet auction sites, like ebay, where jewelry is always being auctioned at great prices. Finally, they are often able to offer you a wider choice of items than you normally find in a single store. So if you have been hesitant to participate in online jewelry auctions up to this point, you can relax and jump in.

Freshwater Pearl & Mother of Pearl Jewelry

As freshwater pearls are solid nacre, they are also quite long-lasting, resisting chipping, wear, and degeneration. The Japanese have a distinguished history of culturing freshwater pearls as well.

Freshwater pearls cover the widest range of color and shape than any other pearl type. Originally these pearls were marketed as a lower quality, inexpensive alternative to Akoya pearls. For this reason, they were typically used by jewelry designers for pieces that favored design over the gems themselves.

However, since the 1990s, a class of freshwater pearl that are round and shiny have emerged which competitor akoya pearls in both quality and value. Freshwater pearls cover the widest range of options for pearl buyers in size, shape and color.

Besides Freshwater Pearls, Mother of Pearl is also very beautiful kind of pearl. It can help you with this part of your healing. It bestows the feeling that you are resting in the arms of a loving mother.

Mother of Pearl can help safeguard you from negative influences, like a protecting mother. When certain harmful frequencies enter your sensation, Mother of Pearl either scatters or absorbs them. These include the frequencies of other people's negative thoughts and emotions and the
harmful emissions of televisions, radios, and microwave transmitters. Although this is a side effect of its energy, it is a profound one and begins to take effect within minutes of donning a Mother of Pearl necklace. by amanwani

Women Love Pearls

Pearls are one of the nature's best gifts to mankind and woman feel proud to wear and show it off. From time immemorial pearl has been considered as the symbol of wealth and prosperity and pearl jewelry has been associated and considered only as part of the rich and famous.

However, now pearls are within reach of the common people as well, and women are ecstatic about this. Pearls were initially found only naturally but now they are cultured and hence found in many colors also. You can have a variety of colors and shapes in pearls and can make jewelry of your choice. Natural pearls are very rarely found and hence costly.

Pearl's shape, size and color depend upon the environment in which it is grown. The shape, size and color of the pearl also define the personality of the woman wearing it. Pearl jewelry is for sophistication and graceful appearance and at the same time it is eye catching and attractive also. So a woman wearing a pearl jewelry can define herself along with its combination with her outfit and the manner in which she carries it off.

Pearls are of two types, one are freshwater pearls and the other seawater pearls. Seawater pearls are much rarer than freshwater pearls and so costlier too. You will find a lot of colors and different shapes in freshwater pearls. Pearl jewelry is considered to be a symbol of class and sophistication and at the same time considered lucky also. In ancient times people had the idea that pearl is a gift of God and so for good fortune and happy life parents used to gift pearl to their daughters. It was the sign of love, good health and prosperity.

Few things should be kept in mind before buying pearl jewelry. Pearl should have a reflecting luster and a smooth surface. Pearl should be properly cared for and stored properly after using it.

How to Select Pearl Necklace

Selecting a necklace is a tough decision. There are so many styles, shapes, sizes and gemstones to choose from, it can seem like a decision you will never be able to make by yourself. This is compounded if you are going to be purchasing a necklace for someone else.

It's best to take on this decision in levels of Style, Stone and Fit:

Style

What should the necklace look like? Do you want something that is only going to be worn once or twice for a special event, or should this be an everyday piece?
Now you have to decide on the kind of necklace you want, do you want a simple chain with a solitaire pendant? A Drop? A chandelier pendant? Or a necklace with designer chain?

If you want a necklace that is ready for everyday wear, you should probably stick with a solitaire pendant or a simple drop pearl pendant. These are pieces that can be jostled around a bit and not be damaged.

Stone

Color can be everything, or nothing at all, when it comes to jewelry selection.
If you want a necklace that can go with anything you want to wear, you may have to relegate yourself to the categories or pearls, diamonds and cubic zirconias.

But if you want to add a little flash of color to your wardrobe through the jewelry you wear, there are a variety of gemstones on the market to choose from. From the purple of amethyst, yellow of citrine, red of garnet and the green of peridot, there is a rainbow of colors available to choose from for your next necklace.

Often the deciding factor is making sure it's a color that you wear a lot, or will go well with many of the things you like to wear.

Fit

There are three general lengths to choose in necklaces.
Choker -- This necklace is generally 16 inches or shorter and is a snug fit around the neck. Its meant to accent the neckline.

Princess -- An 18 inch necklace is called a princess length necklace and is meant to hang just over the collarbone. This is the most common length in necklaces. Pearl strand neckleace.

Opera -- Long and showy is the goal of an opera length necklace. These necklaces are meant to drape down the neck and chest and are usually 24 inches in length.

Take Care of Your Pearls

Real pearls are organic items and as such require special consideration when caring for them. They have a fabulous lustre that is an essential part of why women love to wear them. So it would be a terrible shame if this was lost or damage simply by not following some very simple rules.

You must protect your pearls from everyday chemicals found in cosmetics. Always apply your creams, make-up, hair spray and perfume before putting on your pearls. Try hard not to spray perfume on the exact area that your pearls will sit as this prolonged contact can damage the pearls' surface. Also if you need to reapply hair spray or make-up always remove your pearls first and put them out of the way of loose spray.

Again, always remove your pearls at the end of the day before you start to remove your make-up or apply creams. If you do accidentally get something adverse on them simply wipe them over with a soft damp cloth - NO soap or detergent.

Never put your pearls on top of fires or televisions as the heat can discolour the surface. Store them in the box they came in - never just throw them in to a jewellery box with other items as they will get tangled causing damage to the clasp and may cause chipping of the surface. If they do not have a box try to keep them in a silk bag.

To keep the luminous lustre occasionally buff up with a silk scarf. If you wear your pearls most days they will last longer if you have them restrung each year. If you are a less frequent wearer then every two years will be fine.

These simple rules will help to maintain your pearls' beautiful lustre and enable you to continue to enjoy wearing them for a long time. By Eric Hartwell

The Uniqueness of Fashion Pearl Earrings

Hanging earrings, danglers, and studded earrings are the all time favorites of the working women heading towards an official meeting or formal party.

Fashion pearl earrings can tell the story of the craftsmanship that is hidden in the remote areas of the various countries. The style pattern, design and the trend can also be maintained through the accessories that you put on.

The fashion pearl earrings are just one of them which make up every little flaw that is there in the facial structure.

Generally, it is the earrings that catch the glimpse of the viewers prior to the rest of the jewelries that you have put on.

The master craftsmen, acquainted with the present trends in jewelry making, can only curve some extraordinary designer earrings, the very sight of which can bring down the jaws of the young women.

The designer earrings are far ahead than the traditional ones not because of their artistic value only but also for possessing the capacity to sweep away the imagination.

Beaded earrings are presently in vogue as they can be knitted into a number of ways preserving the eloquence each time. Sequin earrings are a bit gorgeous and can go well only with the party wears and the traditional ones.

Pearl Jewelry Sets

Pearl Jewelry Sets are of two types, one is a simpler set, which just includes a pearl necklace and bracelet (trust me, there's nothing simple about pearls!) The second one includes a pearl earrings and ring along with a necklace and of pearl bracelet.

A Pearl necklace is in itself capable of catching one's attention and if associated with matching bracelet it will enhance the beauty perhaps ten fold. A lot of women wear pearl bracelets to give themselves a perfect and wining combination.

The pearl has a unique feature of attracting anyone to itself and when worn by a lady adds to her grace and style. For a grand occasion, you should invest in an exquisite pearl jewelry set rather than mix and match on your own which sometimes ends up looking downright shabby. Imagine a pearl necklace, diamond earrings, and gold bracelet, not quite graceful is it?

A Pearl jewelry set is designed with a variety of pearls arranged together in some typical style or theme and is unique on its own depending upon the quality, size and length. The price of the set also depends upon various factors and there is quite a huge collection of sets available in the market as well as in online stores.

Women choose the color and design or size of their pearl jewelry, considering their skin tone and clothing for a special occasion. Today you can also get to see the fine work of the jewelry designers as they bead the pearls with fine acrylic strands that are invisible, which makes the necklace appear as if floating on one's neck. It's indeed gorgeous.

Jewelry sets made of cultured pearls are found in different colors. They can be a perfect gift for your beloved on her birthday or your anniversary, or perhaps a graduation gift for your daughter.

A good quality pearl jewelry set compliments the whole outfit. A Pearl jewelry set will always stand apart and it is eye-catching and dazzles all with its timeless beauty.

Jewelry Ideas For Non-traditional Brides

At a traditional wedding, the word "bride" is really a synonym for "white." Non-traditional brides will, therefore, want to push the envelope on color. Look for jewelry replete with gemstones. Gemstones come in all colors, shapes and sizes. Pick bold blue turquoise, sapphire or apatite stones to match blue eyes; jade, peridot or emerld for red hair; and ruby, garnet or coral to match red or pink flower bouquets. Color is probably the most essential part of the non-traditional bride's accessories, as it is the most obvious display of her own personal style.

Classic brides typically choose very feminine, delicate accessories. Distinguish yourself with chunkier, bold jewelry that screams fun and personality. Long, muli-layered necklaces punctuated by colorful gemstones add character while still appearing graceful. Cuff bracelets and single strand bracelets that boast bigger gemstones can be flashy and fun, and offer the opportunity to tie in a color theme without going overboard. With earrings, forgo the traditional pearl stud and decorate your lobes with a long hoop; these designs can be decorated with petite gemstones for a truly original shape and style.

There are so many earring styles to choose from, I thought this needed a bit more attention. I recommend hoops at a wedding only if they are decorated with a bit of feminine flare, as with cascading chains or dangling gemstones. Otherwise, this style has too much of a "clubby" look. I like cascade style, which is one of those timeless designs open to modern interpretation. Pick a length that complements you - long faces need longer jewelry - and wear your hair up so it doesn't get tangled. Keep in mind the color tips above, as these earrings tend to be full of gemstones that can make or break your eye color. In general I would say stay away from big, heavy studs. They weigh your earlobes down, making you appear klutzy, rather than funky.

There are no rules that say the engagement ring has to be a diamond and the wedding band has to be as plain as possible. Choose a ring you'll truly love to wear every day of your life - one that screams personality and sentimentality all at once. One look I like is a multi-wrap in gold or silver, with a small gemstone nestled at the top, like this one. The stone allows for sentimental value - pick either your anniversary month or birthstone - or if you are getting cold feet about this whole "nontraditional" approach, you can always make it a diamond.

If anyone has a problem with your non-traditional style of things, I'm sure it won't be the bridesmaids. Let your ladies choose their jewelry, or at least their preferred style of jewelry, from a custom-made jewelry boutique. You choose the style of earring and necklace and let them select their favorite stone and metal, or vice versa. Either way, we bet they'll wear the jewelry later and vote you Best Bride of all time! Pearl Jewelry

Pearls are a wonder of nature, like most jewels are. Born from an irritation in the inner lining of mollusks (oysters and pearl mussels create pearls that are considered valuable); it becomes something beautiful and spectacular.

There are different kinds of pearls, they come in different shapes, sizes and colors. The rounder the pearl is the rarer and much more expensive it tends to be. Pearls are either salt water or fresh water pearls, cultured or natural. The environment of which the pearl is created greatly contributes to how a pearl will turn out.

STORAGE - Pearl jewelry cannot be haphazardly thrown in with the other jewelry in your armoire. Pearls have a softer surface compared to other jewelry. In fact, pearls are located in the lowest rung when it comes to hardness with diamonds being at the top. So, if you throw your pearls with other jewelry that contains sapphires, rubies, emeralds, etc. or even gold links that have sharp edges on them, you are endangering your pearls from getting scratched or damaged. The best thing to do is to put the pearls in a separate container.

If you do not have the luxury, the time or the space to store your jewels separately, then you could get inexpensive felt or velvet pouches that you can buy in craft and fabric stores. Keep your pearls in these pouches so that they do not get scratched by harder gemstones.

CLEANING - There are a lot of jewelry cleaners that are available in the market. DON'T use them with your pearls. Again, as said, pearls have a softer cover in comparison to other gems. Commercial jewelry cleaners can damage the surface of your pearls and cause them to loose their luster.

When you need to clean your pearls, the best thing to do is to clean them with a dilute solution of soap and water. This will help remove the dirt and still keep your pearls intact. For better results, use warm water when cleaning them and soak them for at least 10 minutes. Don't leave them on too long because it can also damage the pearl and make it loose its luster.

Another tip that will keep the pearl clean and help it keep its shine longer is to put on your perfume first before putting on the pearl. This way, you do not get any of the oil and the alcohol from the perfume directly on the pearls.

MAKING THEM LAST - Pearls need to be restrung at least every year or when the string they are attached to becomes frayed. Re-stringing pearls help avoid a fiasco of having your pearls rain down all over your floor with you getting on your knees looking for each individual piece. Restringing can be done by a professional; your local jeweler can probably do the job for you. by Puripong Koomsin

Pearl Earrings

In the contemporary period, women have become much more liberated. They are now feeling more independent than earlier. A Delightful Jewelry Trend

Often, when you see a new trend hit the marketplace, you have to wonder how long it will be before it's shuttled off to the clearance rack! However, every once in a while, you see something bound to become a fashion staple because it fits the criteria for long term popularity. The hot pick is: Purse Charms.

What is a purse charm? It's a cross between a key chain and a cell phone charm. Clip them on your handbag straps or purse rings, they are as simple to change as a necklace, bracelet or any other piece of jewelry. There are three major categories that determine how well a trend will do in the marketplace:

Versatility: You can literally clip these anywhere, purses, belt loops, etc. Get creative with your clipping! Customer Appeal: Unlimited styles, virtually any standard materials, etc. Wide Range of Prices: From a few dollars to tens of thousands.

Evidently, some top designers feel the same. Dooney & Burke, Marc Jacobs are just two of the top designers specifically designing purse charms to sell as accessories to their handbags. So watch for more styles and colors as this jewelry trend takes off and hits the stores.

Want a quirky moment, a memento of a special occasion or a reminder of a goal? Keep it on a purse charm. It's the adult version of clipping all those key chains on your backpack as we see kids do nowadays. Purse charms can be any length and made out of any material including crystals, gold, sterling silver and wood beads. Chunky or chic, there is a style to match your mood.

It's fun, it's fabulous and it's bound to be around for a long time! This is certainly a trend that will earn it's rightful place in the fashion accessory world. And, I'm excited over this jewelry accessory, it's my choice of the Hot Jewelry Pick! By JoAnna Gilford

Avoid Fraudulent in the Jewelry Industry

Unfortunately the fact of the matter is that there are jewelers and dealers out there that engage in fraudulent practices when they are doing businesses from time to time. How can you spot them and just what are these fraudulent practices? The truth of the matter is that they are difficult to spot unless you are self trained to.

Most are masterful con artists who pick their targets carefully and will look you in the eye while they share a glass of wine and a joke with you, all the while plotting to to screw you over.

Fraudulent practices such as "stone switching" are surprisingly easy to pull of and once it is done, can be easily denied by the jeweler who will claim that it is you who is the con artist just looking for some easy money.

Even the most reputable jeweler can have an employee with a gambling or a drug problem, so it is up to you to cover your butt. Rule number one is that if you have expensive stones on your jewelry have then certified, documented and insured. Never just walk into just any jewelry store and hand expensive jewelry with nice stones in it over to the jeweler and assume that everything is OK.

Find a qualified jeweler and then don't be afraid to discuss the topic of stone switching with them and ask them what safeguards and guarantees they have in place to guarantee the you can't be victimized at their establishment.

A qualified reputable jeweler would be more then glad to discuss the topic and if you have expensive high grade stones in your jewelry would understand your concerns. Trying to save a few bucks by having your high end jewelry worked on by the jeweler at the local back alley pawn shop is the best way to end up becomming the victim of stone switching.

Earrings

When did earrings begin to be worn? Were they worn for body decoration, or other reasons? Some facts, folklore and irreverent comments about earrings:

Some authorities reason that earrings were first worn to help ward off evil spirits. It was thought that these spirits could enter the body through the ears. Ear piercing for the wearing of earrings goes back to evidence in carvings of ancient Persia, long before the existence of rock and roll bands or basketball players, of men wearing earrings.

There are still people that believe as the ancients did that to pierce the ears improves eyesight, especially if a gold earring is worn in one ear and a silver one in the other. Others say to wear earrings of gold with emeralds in them does the trick. It may be a lot less painful and confusing (and less expensive) in the long run to just get a pair of glasses.

There was the thought long ago that wearing jewelry of any type was showing the wearer to be
influenced by demons. Evidently these same folks didn't know about the first bullet point of this
list.

During the days of sailing ships, a sailor would wear an earring to show he had survived a shipwreck, that he had crossed the equator or sailed around the world. Pick the reason you like.
Or maybe they wore them just because they liked them. A good enough reason in itself.

During the Women's Suffrage movement of the early 20th century, the piercing of women's ears was looked upon as barbaric. An alternative method of screw-on earrings was invented as a result. In the 1930's an improvement upon the screw-on type was the clip-on earring. These types of earrings were the style until the 1960's when the barbarity of piercing ears came back into vogue.

There have been times in history where earrings practically disappeared because of hair styles
and clothing fads. The middle of the 19th century was one of these times. It wasn't until Queen
Victoria of England, ever the trend-setter, took to wearing earrings that they came back into
vogue.

The most expensive earrings made to date were made by Harry Winston, 'Jeweler To the Stars' in Beverly Hills, California. In 2006 a pair of Diamond Drop earrings were produced by The House of Winston that had each earring consisting of two pear-shaped diamonds set in a platinum setting. Total weight of the diamonds is 60.1 carats. If you wanted to buy them you'd have to cough up (gasp) $8.5 million. By Alan Beggerow

If you looking for affordable value of earrings, there are many in the market, either jewelry shopping web site or retails jewelry shop. All depend what type of earring you are looking at? pearl earrings, gold, diamond earrings etc.

Choosing Pearl Earrings

Earrings are a popular piece of jewelry and it is essential to choose the right styles for your face shape. Wearing the right earrings will help to flatter and define your features.

To determine your face shape, start by pulling your hair away from your forehead with a hair band, stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face with a soap bar or lipstick onto the mirror.

Check your face shape against those listed below. Each one is outlined with their best suit defining features and avoid example to help you work out which shape you belong to. If you’re having difficulty working out which face shape you have, just ask a friend for some help.

Oval Face
Best Suit: Soft shapes such as pearls, teardrops, ovals and studs work the best. Oval faces are very versatile and can wear pretty much anything. Just experiment with all styles to see which ones you prefer.

Round Face
Best Suit: Long, lean and angular curvy lines to elongate the round face. Drop earrings in oblongs, ovals and dangles work best. Bold angular stud earrings can also look great.
Avoid: Large, chunky earrings. And steer clear of hoops and small studs.

Heart Shaped Face
Best Suit: Earrings that are wider at the bottom than at the top. Go for earrings with soft curves such as tear drops or ovals. Pyramid style earrings can also work well as they are wider at the bottom.
Avoid: Heart shaped earrings and those that come to a point at the bottom.

Square Face
Best Suit: Angular, rounded edges which will soften a square face. Medium to long styles are best and hoops look amazing.
Avoid: Large, angular styles as these can make your face appear wider.

Oblong Face
Best Suit: Statement chandelier styles with lots of volume. Simple studs also work well as they draw the eyes horizontally.
Avoid: Long and angular earrings that mirror your face shape.

Diamond Face
Best Suit: Earrings with more width than length, a combination of straight lines and curves are great. Studs also look good on diamond shape faces as do small drops.
Avoid: Diamond shape earrings and angular squares.

Remember to match the style and colour of your earrings to your outfit and to the occasion. Be comfortable in what you wear and your elegance will shine through. By Anna Lee

Pearl Jewelry

From Audrey Hepburn and the English Crown Jewels to long necklaces done by fashion giant Chanel, there is absolutely no doubt to the timelessness of a great pearl jewelry. Pearls are a wonder of nature, like most jewels are. Born from an irritation in the inner lining of mollusks (oysters and pearl mussels create pearls that are considered valuable); it becomes something beautiful and spectacular.

There are different kinds of pearls , they come in different shapes, sizes and colors. The rounder the pearl is the rarer and much more expensive it tends to be. Pearls are either salt water or fresh water pearls , cultured or natural.

When you need to clean your pearls , the best thing to do is to clean them with a dilute solution of soap and water.

This way, you do not get any of the oil and the alcohol from the perfume directly on the pearls .

MAKING THEM LAST - Pearls need to be restrung at least every year or when the string they are attached to becomes frayed. Re-stringing pearls help avoid a fiasco of having your pearls rain down all over your floor with you getting on your knees looking for each individual piece. Restringing can be done by a professional; your local jeweler can probably do the job for
you. By Puripong Koomsin
