Hot Trends For Spring

With Spring just around the corner, color gemstones in all their magnificent hues are resurfacing. The raw, natural and tribal look is the rage this Season with floral and leaf motifs in ring designs, pendants and earrings. Multicolor bracelets and an abundance of bangles are also in. Young women are showing a great interest in the more bold and rough finish yellow gold necklaces, while older women are looking for unique cuts and classic styles.

Trend-wise, it seems bigger is always better, this trend was visibly apparent among celebrities since last Fall and still continuing, with the addition of the color splashes. The price of gold has been reaching incredible heights, investing in yellow gold pieces is smart, if you can afford it.

However, many designers have branched out into Sterling Silver given the economic climate. While gold, forever the symbol of wealth, is the preferred metal for any precious stone, we're seeing beautiful designs with silver and color gemstones stealing the spotlight.

Today's style-conscious customers have many options, women are asking for stand-out pieces, and larger colored stones, among the favorites are the Quartz family and on the more expensive scale, are the Tourmalines, Beryls, Sapphires and Tanzanites. So what's hot in jewelry these days?

According to our own in-store experience at Jewels Quest, we're seeing a definite interest either in large color stones or large gold pieces with smaller pave accent shades of diamonds, brilliant diamonds, champagne diamonds, chocolate diamonds...

It shouldn't come as a surprise to finish this brief look into the jewelry trends with diamonds, they will, after all, always be a girl's best friend.

When you have decided a price band you can browse the varieties that might be available in that range. If you are looking for charm bracelets you will have to check if your lady has one already. In that case it would make more sense to buy her a charm rather than buying a whole new bracelet.

The pricey varieties have semi-precious stones and diamonds. You should also check out the varieties of metal in which the bracelet is available. For all varieties, it is important to check the warranty certificates and clear out any doubts you have before making the purchase. For those of you who prefer to make purchases online, this is a very important aspect. Try and find out local branches of jewelers who can undertake repairs if anything are amiss.

How to Choose the Perfect Necklace

A necklace is a very versatile piece of jewelry. You can team it with a evening gown for a formal occasion or just wear one with a plain dress to the boardroom. The perfect necklace is one you can carry off confidently and comfortably. If you plan to accessorize your wardrobe with a necklace, here are a few tips for you.

First of all you must keep in mind the occasion for which you want to wear the necklace. The choice varies for daytime and night. One can stick to basic, simple pieces for day wear. Night time is usually perfect to bring out the beauty of a luxurious item.

The collar of the dress makes all the difference to the item you are wearing. If you wear a V neck, complement it with a simple string of pearls. You can also highlight the piece with a stunning pendant. You may also experiment with wider necks that show off the collar bones.

If you plan to buy a piece with colored stones on it, you must remember to coordinate it with the rest of your collection.

If you have a daring strapless evening gown, nothing sits more perfectly than a short necklace at the base of your neck. Pearls are some of the most versatile pieces for such occasions and you can buy one that has similar sized pieces strung to make a beautiful choker.

If you opt to wear a blouse instead, you will have to team it with something that is more eye catching. A thick chain would be the answer in this case and would go well with a business suit. If you favor turtlenecks, you can team it with a long string of pearls. Crystals are another classy option for women and tend to add sophistication to your nightwear.

Spring Fashion Trends - Colors Rule

Blues and lavenders continue to be popular colors that carry over from the Fall Fashion Collections. In addition to these you will find yellows and greens, especially bright greens like those found in jade. Of course, neutrals and reds are always popular.

However, change is in the air. Jewelry is influenced by the global and exotic and will be the one new fashion piece you want for the spring. You will see larger pieces this year, especially those with larger gemstones. This will be the best way to update your wardrobe.

Necklaces will be big and bold with rich colors. You'll also see large chunky bracelets that will stand out. And look for exotic and ethnic inspired pieces with an Asian influence. Jewelry isn't just about style anymore, designs containing symbolism and special meaning are becoming more and more popular. These "personalized" items are considered more valuable, as they are more tailor-made for the individual.

Don't be afraid to wear the one-of-a-kind piece that will set you off from the crowd. The bigger and more unusual piece the better. Why? These pieces can be worn in the evening with a gown or a simple black dress, and during the day to dress up a pair of jeans. You can even wear these exotic pieces with prints. This versatility in a piece of jewelry allows you to buy less and enjoy it more.

In addition, unusual pieces of jewelry add drama and visual interest to your clothes and will make a simple outfit stand out. Imagine - adding new items to your wardrobe that you don't even have to wash!

The History of Charms Fashion

Although charms have fascinated humans for thousands of years, the interest and motivation for carrying them has changed greatly over time.

It's a fair assumption that the charm bracelet's roots can be found in ancient amulets and talismans. These were objects carried by ancient Chinese, Africans, Egyptians, and many more early cultures. Usually made from stones or bones, amulets were worn to provide good fortune and protection to the wearer.

These items were also worn as a kind of 'dog tag' indicating religious faith. The belief, in essence, was that the deceased wearer would be escorted to the appropriate afterlife. This use of charms extended into the Roman era, when Christians and Jews would wear items to indicate their corresponding faith as an act of piety.

Charms reappeared in the Middle Ages on the necks and belts of knights and warriors. They hoped that the donning of the charm, along with prayer and incantation, would bring the support of God to their battles.

Not surprisingly, this caused charms to lose favor during the Renaissance. These supposedly enlightened times saw the charm as a symbol of fear and superstition. It was not until Queen Victoria introduced a more modern use of the charm that they began to emerge as fashionable items for women.

Charms are now used to mark milestones in a woman's life including her 16th birthday and her marriage. The bracelet of charms is often passed down from mother to daughter as a family heirloom.

This is the use of the charm that we love and encourage: one that represents your own personal journey through life. With time, your charm bracelet can grow and record your experience. And in a very real way, your time on earth can be passed down to your loved ones.
